The No Prep Veneers Process: What Happens at Each Step, From Photos to Bonding

The No Prep Veneers Process: From Photos to Bonding

The no prep veneers process is shorter and gentler than most people expect. There is usually no drilling, no anesthetic, and no temporary teeth.

But “no prep” does not mean “no steps.” The quality of the result comes from what happens before the porcelain ever touches your teeth.

This guide walks through each stage in order, so you know what to expect at every visit.

A note from Dr. Kim — Many people who land on this page share one quiet worry: what will actually happen in the chair? Not knowing is often harder than the treatment itself.

Blanche began with a simple question: why harm a natural tooth worth more than any restoration? That is why our signature Blanche no-prep veneers follow one rule — minimal intervention, maximum beauty.

How the no prep veneers process differs from traditional veneers

Traditional veneers start by shaving enamel so the porcelain can sit flush.

That usually means anesthetic, a set of temporary veneers, and a second visit.

No prep veneers skip the shaving, or limit it to a light polish on one area.

So the work shifts from removing tooth to designing and making very thin porcelain.

For the traditional sequence, see The Veneers Process, Step by Step.

The no prep veneers process is like a tailor’s fitting

A good tailor does not cut the fabric first. They measure, pin, and let you try the shape on.

Only when the fit looks right do they sew the final piece.

No prep veneers work the same way. You see and approve the shape before anything is made.

Before the chair: the first steps of the no prep veneers process

Blanche Dental Clinic, Gangnam Seoul

1. Photo consultation

Most international patients start here, before they book a flight.

Two photos, one front and one smiling, tell us a lot about shape, gaps, and color.

We can usually say whether no-prep is likely to suit you.

2. Exam and digital scan

At your visit, we take a digital scan instead of messy impression trays.

An X-ray and a gum check confirm that the foundation is healthy.

If teeth are badly crowded, we may suggest aligning them first. That keeps the most natural tooth.

3. Smile design and preview

This is the most important step in the no prep veneers process.

We design the new shape from your face, lips, and gum line.

Then we place a preview on your own teeth so you can see it in a mirror.

Check the side view carefully. That is where extra thickness shows first.

Not sure where your case fits? Send two photos — front and smiling — on WhatsApp. We will tell you what is possible before you book any flight.

Making and bonding: the core of the no prep veneers process

4. Fabrication in Blanche Lab

No-prep porcelain is extremely thin, so it is hard to make well.

Ours is made in Blanche Lab, our in-house lab near Nonhyeon Station.

The dentist and ceramist sit in the same building and adjust edges and color together.

5. Try-in and color check

Before bonding, each veneer is tried on with a test paste.

You see the final color in natural light and can ask for changes.

6. Bonding without drilling

The tooth surface is cleaned and prepared so the bond can grip the enamel.

Because enamel is kept, most patients need no anesthetic for this step.

We use the Ivoclar bonding system, one of the highest-priced adhesive systems available.

It is biocompatible and resists staining, so the edges stay clean for years.

Bonding quality is also one reason prices differ between clinics, not only the porcelain grade.

7. Bite check and polish

Finally, we smooth the edges at the gum line and check your bite.

No single thin edge should take all the force when you chew.

How long does the no prep veneers process take?

Blanche Dental Clinic, Gangnam Seoul

There are two ways to schedule it.

On a standard schedule, design and bonding happen on separate days.

On our one-day program, every step above happens in a single day, for every case.

Complex cases are simply given more design and adjustment time within that day.

The one-day option is priced higher than a standard schedule. The dentist and lab team are dedicated to your case for the whole day.

For the full one-day program — technology, pricing, and booking — see our One-Day Veneers page.

After the no prep veneers process: aftercare

You can eat normally once the bond has set. A slight new feeling usually fades within days.

If you clench or grind at night, a night guard protects the thin edges.

Routine cleanings every six months keep the margins healthy, and any dentist can do them.

FAQ

Is the no prep veneers process painful?

Most people feel little or nothing, because enamel is not cut. That is why anesthetic is usually not needed.

Do I need temporary veneers during the no prep veneers process?

Usually not. Your teeth are not shaved, so they look and feel normal while the porcelain is made.

Can the no prep veneers process be done in one day?

Yes. On our one-day program, design, fabrication, and bonding all happen on the same day.

Side effects and individual differences

Temporary sensitivity or a foreign-body feeling can occur after veneers. Chipping or debonding is also possible.

Results vary with each person’s teeth, gums, and habits, so treatment should follow an exam and consultation.

I trained at Seoul National University and have focused on veneers for ten years.

Blanche no-prep veneers start from one belief: keep as much of your own tooth as possible, then design beauty around it.

If you would like to know what each step would look like for your teeth, we will start by looking at them with you.

What happens at your first consultation

1. We listen first — what bothers you and what you hope for. 2. We walk you through your scan results and every option.

3. You get itemized costs and timing, and you can decide later, even after you fly home. At Blanche, we explain everything at least four times, by principle.
